Consultation results
‘I like it’ (supportive): 8
‘I don’t like it’ (against): 2
‘I like it, but…’ (asking for some changes): 0
There was a majority in support of the proposals, but new information was supplied which made it was clear that some amendments to be scheme would be required, with further discussion with stakeholders needed before the scheme can be finalised.
Revised plan
The Tree Council has agreed 100% funding for the work under its Branching Out Fund.
Revised layout
Aftercare
The hedge will be well mulched to keep down weeds until the planting is established. In the first year, volunteers will help with aftercare but in the long term, the planting will be maintained by the Town Council’s Streetscape team. The details are still to be confirmed but it is expected that the hedge will be maintained at around 1.0-1.2 m, with trimming on alternate sides each year to allow some fruit and berries to develop for wildlife and amenity benefit.
