GRAHAM is the Principal Contractor working on behalf of Cheshire East Council to deliver the Congleton Link Road Project. For your information, please see below an update on the road closures, temporary traffic lights and diversions. Please be aware that dates are subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

ROAD CLOSURES

 

Giantswood Lane, between Westlow Mere and Smithy Lane, Hulme Walfield

The closure will allow for the completion of the new Giantswood Lane structure and resurfacing of the realigned carriageway.

 

Start Date:                      21st February 2020

 

Planned Completion Date: 24th July 2020

 

 

Sandy Lane, between A54 Holmes Chapel Road and A534 Sandbach Road, Somerford

 

The closure will enable the construction of the mainline carriageway and the new Sandbach Road and Holmes Chapel Road junctions.

 

Sandy Lane will re-open to pedestrians and cyclists when the above works are completed but will remain closed to vehicles.

 

Start Date:                      28th May 2019

 

Planned Completion Date: Late 2020

 

 

Back Lane (West), Somerford

 

The closure will permit the construction of Back Lane (West), including two new roundabouts. There is no access to through traffic along this section of Back Lane, with access to the playing fields being maintained via Holmes Chapel Road.

 

Access to properties on Back Lane is been maintained via Chelford Road.

 

 

Start Date:                      2nd September 2019

 

Planned Completion Date: Late 2020

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC LIGHTS

 

Holmes Chapel Road, Somerford

Temporary traffic lights will be in place between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm to enable plant to cross Holmes Chapel Road

Start Date:                      18th May 2020

 

Planned Completion Date: 20th May 2020

 

 

Macclesfield Road, Eaton

 

Temporary traffic lights will be in place between the hours of 7:30am and 5:30pm to enable plant to cross Holmes Chapel Road

 

Start Date:                      23rd May 2020

 

Planned Completion Date: 25th May 2020

 

TEMPORARY CARRIAGEWAY

 

Chelford Road, between Black Firs Lane and Back Lane, Somerford

 

To enable the construction of the Chelford Road structure and divert existing services, traffic has been diverted onto a temporary 2-way carriageway.

 

The speed limit has been reduced from national speed limit to 10mph through the works area. The reduction is necessary due to the alignment of the temporary carriageway and construction traffic requiring access and egress from the works site.

 

 

Start Date:                      9th July 2019

 

Planned Completion Date: For the duration of the Chelford Road overbridge construction
