First I would like to confirm the postponed date for the next meeting. It is Monday, September 11 at 2 pm. Apologies for any inconvenience caused by the postponement.
The Alzheimers Society has clarified their strategy from 1 January 2024. Dementia Friends Awareness sessions will continue to be run by Ambassadors such as myself, either in company or by public sessions. Unfortunately, there are no plans, yet, to recruit and train new Ambassadors. The main change will be the recognition of Dementia Friendly Companies (the stickers) will cease as will the accreditation of towns.
David, Congleton Lions, has applied for grant funding from the ‘co-op’. Good luck with that David.
Adriana, and a colleague. From Astbury Mere Care Home have raised £2000 for the Alzheimers Society with a skydive. Although this will not directly benefit Congleton, I am attending the cheque presentation on July 3 so we may get some publicity from their efforts. Well done!
Cathy is investigating the re-issue of the Gentle Activities Leaflet. Many activities take a break over the Summer months, so the plan will be to do something for the Autumn.
Mention was made, at the last meeting of having a stall, at the Makers’ Market in September. This will probably now not be possible until the October market. Ideas include items from the swap shop and a flyer about our key activities.
Hoping you all have a lovely Summer.
See you in September
Diane (Chair).
